wifi security

Post by diyguys »

Just been watching Panarama about the internet,i am with talktalk and when i first got it i was given a disc which i loaded onto my computer,my question is that i never set a security password but any time i search for wireless connection it says it is security enabled.I do not have to type any password just have to point to the e and click and i am connected.I was wondering if every body on talk talk has there own securty password that has been set on the disc by talk talk or do i have to set up my own security password.

How do I connect wirelessly with my D-Link DSL-2640R / Huawei HG520b router?

In order to manually setup your modem router to connect wirelessly, take the following steps:

1. Open a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, type http://192.168.1.1 into the Address bar and press Enter on your keyboard.
2. Enter the username and password and click OK.
Note: The default username and password are both admin (this is case-sensitive).
3. Your username and password should already be pre-configured into your router, but if the router has been reset you will need to enter your TalkTalk username in the Username box, and enter your password in the Password box.
Note: Your username is usually your broadband telephone number, followed by @talktalk.net. For example, 02079460009@talktalk.net.
Your username and password can be found in your welcome letter. Alternatively, you can call our free, automated service at any time of the day or night on 0870 0875 562. This service will give you your correct details. You must call it from your TalkTalk landline.
4. If Enable Wireless (Optional) is not ticked please tick it, make a note of the Wireless Network Name (SSID) and Wirless Network Password displayed and click Connect and OK.
If the Wireless Network Name or Wireless Network Password are not displaying corrently please complete the instructions below.
5. Enter a name for your network in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box. This is the name that your wireless modem router will broadcast, so enter something that is recognisable to you. It's important not to enter any personal details.
6. Enter a password in the Wireless Network Password box. The password should be at least eight characters long and can be a maximum of 63 characters. Take a note of this password, as you will need it to connect other wireless devices to your network. Click Connect and OK.

Your modem router is now set up to connect wirelessly. You now need to connect your computer to the network. To do this, see: How do I connect my computer to the wireless network?
