Post by davemulheran »
Hi guys
the upper part of the exterior of our cottage is tiled
however two tiles have just fallen off
they are all nailed to battens
what is the best way to nail new tiles back up there
do I need to pre make a hole in the tile?
i dont want to smash the new (old) ones that are to go back up
here is a pic
thks

Just nail the new ones up. You will get galvanised nails from the same supplier you get the tiles from.

Sorry, didn't answer that part........Tiles should already have holes for nailing them up.
just don't try to hammer the nail tight to the face of the tile, as you will then crack it.

Use an old comb to act as a cushion. Stick the nail through the comb and tap it in.
