Downloading YouTube Videos

Post by dave.m »

I have written these instructions for diyguys who PMed me a few questions about YT Videos.

Thought it may be of help to others.

Having downloaded and installed YouTube Downloader from the link:
http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/

Open your browser and go to the YouTube video that you want to download.
Copy the URL from the address bar by highlighting and the hit CTRL+C keys together.

Open YT Downloader and paste (CTRL+V) the URL in the top box marked Enter Video URL.
Note YT Downloader may have recognised the URL as a YouTube Video and already entered it in the box.
Click Download Video from YouTube.
Click OK - Save to a folder such as My Videos.

During download you can shutdown the browser if you wish.

Once downloaded, go to where it is and drag it to the upper address bar in YT Downloader.
(To drag it, you may have to drag to desktop and drop it then close the video folder and, with more space on the desktop, drag it to the upper bar.)
Select WMV in the lower dropdown box.
Click OK and it will place a converted video in you Videos Folder.
Check that it plays and then you can delete the original download to save space.

Thanks for that, bredred.
Just looked at your other post but I don't have an iPod so cannot help by recommending a particular program.

Weegie,
If you use Internet Explorer for browsing get the Flash Player for IE from:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_ie/

If you use Firefox or other browser get this Flash Player:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_firefox/

In either case, click the download for the latest version in the top right of the list.

Weegie,
Just to mention, if you use Firefox or another 'non Internet Explorer' as your default browser, and you have downloaded the Flash Player for 'Non IE' then it is also a good idea to get the IE Flash Player just in case you have to use IE foir a particular web site.
