Velux windows cheapest place i found was magnet.
I have used Berrys on a few occasions, they sell everything but it can be a pain in the arse moving between the departments.

I was once in the shop and I picked up a ticket, like you do at the meat counter in some supermarkets. I was 79 or whatever.. The guy behind the counter shouts 78, then shouts 78 again, then 78 again. He then shouts 79 so I walk up to the counter, then this tw4t walks alongside and says I'm 78 and the guy proceeded to server him :angryfire: Then the next guy serving shouts number 80 and I was stood there like a tit until this prick with the ticket before me was served :angryfire:

Chez never go on a saturday, as it too busy you will never get served.

They have gone quiet since the reccession, as there is very few new build houses.

I mostly order over the phone and get it delivered, but if i need any other items i jsut get it locally, as it is 5 miles away from my house.

Plumbing stuff i buy from Blackburn plumber keighleys competive on boilers.

There are other plumber merchants in blackburn.

Well I have just been to B&M homestores - never been before but had some time to kill in town.
I w2as amazed by the prices of some of the stuff - Leyland 2.5l paint many colours £8. 1sqm wall tiles £5. General hand tools etc from £1.50 kinda thing.
TBH I spent over £45 on a shed load of stuff.

For steel - bar, tubes, decorative items etc in and around the Glasgow area (they will deliver all over) then i recommend Simpson Steel. I bought my steel from Ayrshire Steel for years before discovering Simpsons - the price difference was scary :cb

I now shop around for everything - i always get the feeling that i'm being mugged at b&q etc. I'll get paint for decorating the house from there and the occassional bits n bobs for repair work to plumbing, electrics etc things for the garden etc, but i have found local places that i can get the more serious stuff from at excellent prices (wood, bolts / hardware etc ). I google for anything i want to buy just to get a comparison.

Once you start shopping around and seeing the savings, so you worry about how b&q etc survive!!

Simpson steel is awesome. I always find everything I need there. Berrys is also pretty good.
