Transferring address books

Post by Laird »

On a daily basis I use Microsoft Outlook and all my work and personal email contacts are in the address book.
Now I want to copy my complete contacts list to a gmail account that I have opened, so that I have the same list of all my contacts in BOTH the Outlook and the Gmail.
The explanations in the 'Help' are clear and I don't see a problem with doing it, but what it doesn't say is if when I export from Outlook to Gmail, if I will be left with my contact list intact in Outlook, or will everything move over to Gmail and leave my address book in Outlook empty.
I want the same list in both accounts.
Anybody know the answer?

If you use the instructions here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlo ... 21033.aspx exporting your contacts won't remove them from Outlook, they will be left as they are.

The word 'Export' in computer jargon is very misleading as people would think that anything that is exported is moved, whole, from one place to another as in shipping stuff abroad.

It should really read 'Send a copy of this to . . .'
