laptop screen problems

Post by sanitygone »

We're having problems with laptop screen. I have attached pictures of what is happening. The top photo is right hand side of screen and the bottom is of the left hand side. I think my son has probably dropped it or knocked but he but he says he hasn't.

We know the problem is definitely the lcd screen as we have attached the computer monitor to the laptop and that is ok.

Has anyone got any ideas as to what we can do to sort out this problem?

Looks like you will be needing a new screen.

You might be covered for accidental damage on your house contents insurance?

If it is an oldish laptop it might not be economical to repair it, so you might be better off getting a new one. You can still use the old one if you keep it connected to a monitor like you have already tried.

Thanks for the reply Ultimatehandyman. We do have accidental damage on contents insurance but not sure of the excess, will check it out to see if it is worth it. The laptop is about 2 1/2 years old so not that old but old enough to not spend a lot on it.

eBay is a great source for spare screens but if you have a spare 'standard' monitor you may as well set the lappy up as a 'sitty' instead.
Don't take it personally......

It's been dropped, something has been dropped on it or it's been stood on.

If it's a 15.4" screen they're around £65 on ebay.
