lidl as in the poor persons supermarket...hmmm wouldn't trust my safety to any bike gear that they sold.

I dont think they sell anything that was meant for north korea. I would say that everything will be safe, and to EU safety standards........................ unless of course, you want the 'poor persons supermarket' to sue the 'rich chipper'

Unless that comment was 'tongue-in-cheek', I find it a bit snobbish and quite patronising.

Aldi and Lidl sell a lot of products of better quality and cheaper than 'rich persons supermarkets'.

I know several 'well-off' people (not millionaires), who do the majority of their weekly shop at the two major discounters, rather than Asda and the other three big ones. That may explain why they are 'well-off'.

yes it was tongue in cheek..........wouldn't get my bike gear from there though.

Although, I did follow the link to see what it was but couldn't see anything. Could have been push bike gear I suppose.........I meanmt motorbike leathers, boots, helmets etc i wouldn't get ion Aldi, but then I wouldn't get it from Asda if George bought a range out. george clothes are cheap cheerful and last like they are.

used to get jeans for work from primark, they used to last for ever.

Must admit I have always been of the opinion that you can buy a £20 helmet if you have a £20 head.

If you don't like the stuff, don't buy it.
Pleased to tell you both that if you had followed the link you would NOT have found an helmit for sale, just some motor cycle accessories that may have been of use, such as:
Motor bike locks,
Covers,
Battery chargers and some protective clothing

I find it rather pointless posting a link that may be of use to someone and then comments that are irrelevant to the thread being posted.

Some people post notification of last minute reductions at some of the sheds, but no one says that B&Q or Wickes stuff is all crap because it is cheap. Just judge for yourself what may be worth buying and what you do not want.

Suprisingly enough even when they do sell helmets they are all tested and approved to german standards (which are a lot more stringent than ours) They would not be allowed to sell non certified helmets in the UK.

All helmets used on the road in the UK must have the british standard kite mark. If I remember right green is the minimum standard, then silver and gold is the best. Foggy'll probably be more up to date on this than I am.
I'd be more concerned about buying the right size (should be much more of a snug fit than you'd think) without proper advice from a bike shop if you are new to biking.

Quite recently ,a couple of Lidl supermarkets have opened in Malta. I bough some tools from them and although the price is cheap, i can't grumble about the quality. A typical example is a set of taps and dies that are meant to clean the existing threads, I used these to make new threads many times and they are still going strong.
