i phone to tomtom
Can anyone help?
I should be able to use my Tomtom as a hands free for my i-phone. Tomtom won't recognise my i-phone. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Simon

Re: i phone to tomtom
I have tried to, they see eachother but then the Tomtom says something like 'Can't communicate with I-phone'

Are you sure it is supposed to work? Iphones are notoriously bad for connecting with other devices via bluetooth.

I'd agree, iphones only seem to talk to other iphones
I think I'll take two chickens...

Yes perhaps your right, I tried looking on a i-phone forum but to no avail.
Thanks anyway.

Re: i phone to tomtom
Thanks Dave, was waiting for you to come on. The Tomtom is a Tomtom One and the i-phone is a 3G 8Gig.
Cheers

Re: i phone to tomtom
I've searched all sorts of combinations but cannot find anything about TomTom 1 and iPhone communicating with one another.
This is the video of the iphone with the TomTom app installed:

dead link removed
This link is to TomTom site, and if you click on 'check phone compatability' you should read that your phone is comaptable with the application. Clicking the 'Get the app' button takes you to the Apple ipod site, but I don't know what you do when there.
unfortunately I don't own either of the products so cannot even hazard a guess as to what to do.

Hi Dave,
I have a feeling that Apple doesn't want there phone talking to Tomtom as they charge your for the Tomtom app for your phone. But thanks for trying Dave!

Re: i phone to tomtom
I've just had a word with my boy, he works for Orange, and he reckons that you will be lucky to get the i-phone to connect to hardly anything via bluetooth. It is mainly there just for audio accessories, such as a bluetooth headset and not for the normal connections we think it should be for.
The same goes for the Blackberry bluetooth as well.
