Painting tiles around the bath...

Post by gemcette »

... I bought my tile paint, then some old pro (professional painter and decorator that is!) said there's no point as the paint will slide due to the steam from the bath and shower within a few months.

Is he right??? The tiles are tiny square black & white ones and make my head spin. And they're everywhere. They gotta go!

Although I am not keen on painted tiles I know a few people that have done it and they have had no problems as mentioned, even when the painted tiles have been near a boiling kettle.

Doing the job this week...

...any tips on how to make the paint stick better? Should I rough them up with some course grade sandpaper first and maybe use a special undercoat? Any more of these blinking black and white mosaic tiles and my eyes will pop out.

Clean the tiles with sugar soap........leave overnight till totally dry

Prime with the above primer (the link) or similar

Topcoat with whatever colour you like........gloss or eggshell :thumbright:
