Hi Mike,
How about a bit of hardwood fixed down? You don't really want to form a ridge under your tiles or laminate! Screw some timber to the gap between the tiles and the laminate.

Yes...had one at the previous house....sort of "U" shaped channel that fixes/screws to the floor....then a "T" shaped piece that fits inside the "U" ... can't remember where I got it though....one of the sheds... B&Q maybe..

I just call em door strips (think they might be called "Z Bars ?), most tile shops actually stock them.

Don't know why they are dear, because at the end of the day it is still a naff MDF extrusion.
