Does anyone know how to make red bricks lighter?

Post by Mocamps »

We have a very large inglenook fireplace which completely dominates or room. The bricks are quite red and new. I would like to make them look either older or tone them down a bit. Has anyone got any tips?

Thanks

I don't think you will be able to make them look any lighter to be honest. Even bricks that are outside in the strong sunlight and rain will take 50 years to fade!

Perhaps someone will come up with a possible solution!

Good luck

There are specialists that can colour bricks and masonry. Few and far between, so pretty expensive i imagine.

Pink paint? No, only kidding.
Measure twice, cut once - except fingers!
