I'd try and find an adhesive manufacturer that recommends using pva as a tiling primer. If you can find one that is suitable for use with travertine then you should be ok.

You can test the paint to see if it can be tiled over by sticking some carpet tape onto the wall for 20 mins.

When you remove the carpet tape if the paint comes with it then you cannot tile over it and it will need removing.

How much ply is in there and have you pva'd the ply?

You should never need to apply pva to ply.

You could always unscrew it and turn it around!

Failing that you could try soaking the pva and wipe it all off!

Simple but great ill soak the bloody thing,a nail gaun was used on some of the fixing so turning round not such a simple solution.the theiory of soak sounds perfect as the adhesive draws it out so surpose water should.
thanks again my panic is rapidly slidding away

Pva normally turns back to pva when you wet it (unless you have used waterproof pva) and so this should work, but might be a boring job.

If you used waterproof pva then your panic is over with

there the 600 x 400 12mm thick travertine, the stud owrk is supported every 300mm for extra strength and riddled with screws hence no movement what so ever.i was told over 10mm can be a bit dodgy sometimes on ply but these should be ok.As i said earlier its only 2.4 x 1.2 metre sheet

Post by lovley jublee »

iwent to tops and they said they recommend you PVA walls, so at that lost all faith in them.I got the manager ! to call f ball and check and surprise surprise they said under no curcumstance use pva .they recommended use fball PDA over what i have done on ply and walls. My problem now is iam really sceptical of what to do.I did however see unibond powder floor tile adhesive that says use PVA , i cant see why that would be a prob to use floor adhesive on walls would tha be correct .WHAT NOW :?
