Drilling holes in travertine
Hi Guys,
I have finally bought the travertine up-stand tiles (15X100X200) to skirt my en-suite. I have a towel rad and the 15mm supply pipes come through the wall at about 60mm up from the floor tiles. Question is, I need to drill a couple of 20mm holes in the travertine up-stands for the pipes. What's the best way of going about it?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Wino,
Thanks, I was thinking along those lines, I have hole saws, does a cobolt saw not have teeth, just an abrasive edge?

Or this one,

I won a similar set on UHM just as I was finishing a bathroom, found them to be very good.
Similar to these, think I've seen them for sale in B N Poo.

Re: Drilling holes in travertine
Travertine is a fairly soft material but if you're looking for some budget Diamond cores then then I would recommend 365drills who out perform other makes in the price range.
They do a bathroom fitters pack for around £50 8 drill bit's if a remember

£50 for a pack or $2 for a hole saw the correct size, and you think that the £50 is budget

Not in this case if you were just after 1 or 2 holes to drill but in general if you were fitting a bathroom they are good value, last a lot longer that some of the cheap diamond cores even when using in grade 5 porcelain.
In some cases you wouldn't even need a diamond core as many ceramics can be drilled with an SDS bit. I was just saying I rate these bits and think £50 is value for money for the build quality
