first of what may be daft newbie posts, having moved into a 1966 bungalow in need of total modernisation.
first to tackle is the bathroom, replacing the shower etc - have plumber lined up for this. but will be tiling floors and walls myself.
have removed 1 internal wall of 2 sets of tiles and removed the skirting, floor is concrete and in fairly good condition, wall is block and plastered direct. im not intending to remove all the old adhesive, as will line the walls with backer board on the assumption it will make the final tiling easier, and reading other threads they seem easier to fix and stick to walls without hassle of sealing etc, will be using porcelain tiles for floor and walls.
qn i have is that the plaster on walls seems to stop 2-3 inches from floor and can see what i assume is the dpc in the wall, this is generally 1inch above the floor level. what im intending to do is simply board the walls down to floor level, tile walls down the board right down to floor level give or take 2-3mm, then tiling the floor, again leaving a few mm at the edge with the wall and then using sealant between the two.
anyone see any issues with this?
