Tiled skirting

Post by Crooksey »

My porch is going up soon and for a more "robust" finish im thinking of having a tiled skirting. Now im wondering if its best to get the purpose formed tiled skirting, or just cut down floor tiles to fashion them into a form of skirting.

Or if anyone has some pictures/examples of work they have done like this that would be great!

Johnson tiles specifically manufacture ones that have a finished edge to them. Not used them for a skirting detail but they are top quality finish to edges. When doing walls with them, there is no need for corner trims.

Apart from that, cut tiles down with a quality blade.

Specials would look better, if they do them to match the floor ones you are using.

Yea I think they would look better to.

Just dont think wooden painted skirtings will stay clean for long in an area such as a porch and having tiles instead should combat this problem!

The trend now seems to be to tile the floor but I think a skirting looks a lot better

Bit like rad pipes in the wall. I prefer a nice chrome rad tails

Crooksey I found browsing tiling shops useful, gives you ideas. Everything on a website looks good, tiles are shown in best possible light

Oh yea I definatley will buy them from a shop, like my bathroom/kitchen tiles. Sadly the only shop open late is Topps and the teenagers in there seem to know f*ck all, which doesnt really matter, I just find they dont give a sh*t, which is really annoying when your spending over a grand, for my bath/kitchen anyway. Just have to spare some of my saturday and take a look!

I found browsing Topps tiles good (I didn't buy the tiles from there) for ideas of borders are trims

I used a 6mm brushed steel trims and it looks well actually. Saw that idea in Topps and bough the trim there and tiles from Wickes
