windows 98

Hi I have been given a small lap top (notebook ?)which uses windows 98. Can it be brought upto date? or is it into the recycling skip? :withstupid:

You would need to find the spec of the computer, type dxdiag in the run box and see what you have under the hood.

If its pretty slow, then you could look at some linux alternatives or if not your sort of thing, recycle it my way. :cheers:

Use it for web browsing and 'basic' home office stuff - otherwise it's not much good for modern software.

Should be alright for basic computing as most modern programmes are resource hungry but that said most old laptop batteries will fail long before the computers capabilities
