Re: where can i get this update?
Double click on the shield at the bottom, by the clock normally, that will open the update and you just tick the box.

Think you might mean the Microsoft® Windows® Malicious Software Removal Tool which is available via Windows Update http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/d ... laylang=en

Re: where can i get this update?
It doesn't have anything to do with hidden icons.
This tool checks your computer for infection by specific, prevalent malicious software (including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom) and helps to remove the infection if it is found. Microsoft will release an updated version of this tool on the second Tuesday of each month.

Re: where can i get this update?
Aileeny,
Just to put you in the picture, Microsoft issue a batch of updates that are necessary for some of their programs ,on the second Tuesday of every month, but by the time they issue them in the USA, it is usually Wednesday when we get then in the UK.
The Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool is a once-a-month program that comes updated with the latest definitions on the Tuesday/Wednesday, and once downloaded and installed, does a scan of your computer in the background whilst the rest of any updates are being downloaded and installed. Once it has run, it will remove any problems and just disappear into the 'beyond'.
The other updates are usually only relevent to the programs that you have installed, so you don't normally get offered any updates for programs that you don't have.

Re: where can i get this update?
You MUST have an antivirus program installed BUT only ONE.
(you can have more than one but only one running at a time, so it is easier to say only have ONE installed.)
This will give you an idea of what is available:
NOW! That‘s What I Call Software. 1.
Comodo Antivirus is OK, as is Avast.
Microsoft Security Essentials is available now and covers antivirus, antispyware and malware and does it in real-time meaning it protects agains spyware and viruses all the time the computer is on.
At the moment on this PC I have Comodo Firewall, Microsoft Security Essentials for real-time protection and then:
Malwarebytes antmalware (MBAM) and Superantispyware (SAS) for manual scans once a week after running the updates in each one.
