Vauxhall Vectra Rant

Post by EJJ150847 »

No 2 daughter arrives this morning to drop dog off and take wifey to work.

"Daaaad Dearest, I've only got one wiper working" can you have a look, drives off in my Jag leaves her 04 Vectra to me.

Puts on waterproofs and wellies, has a look, linkage for passenger side dropped off, manages to clip it back in but drops off again, manages to get a tyrap around both arms to hold it together, seems to be holding. :thumbright:

Could'nt get the plastic scuttle or wiper arms off, so will have to find two pronged pullers to pull them off. :cussing:

The two pronged pullers are those I made as part of my apprenticeship in the '60's, knew they'd come in handy someday.

Oh how I wish she'd take all her stuff out of my double garage so I get the car in to work on it. :angryfire:

This is a common fault on Vectras and you need to replace the whole wiper unit. http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7989

Thanks DWD, Just read the link and one person did the same fix as me and was still going 60k later.

Read a lot of the threads and it seems a known problem pity her car is six years old and well out of warranty.

Have looked on fleabay and there is an upgraded version of the linkage arms available.
