Intergas 24/18 HRE compact Combi

Ok people, after 36 and a bit years, I have finally decided to pension off the old Servowarm Elite 50 boiler

All parts original except a pre-used PCB and a pre-used gas valve.

Order a nice shiny 24/18 compact combi today Now for someone that's been slagging off combi boilers for the last 20 odd years, this is a big step in the wrong direction as far as I'm concerned, but HeyHo move with the times, and this thread could prove useful to Our members over the next few years, because if it breaks down the world and his wife will hear all about it.

Hopefully, if Intergas get their finger out, I'll get it before Christmas, then as soon as it get's warmer, I'll attack it so watch this space.

We had a Vaillant Combi for best part of 20 years with hardly any problems, most of them seem ok as long as they are used regularly.

Are you selling the old boiler to the museum

I could probably get the price of the new boiler in spares from the old.

Not many 36 year old pumps still running.

now i don't went to teach you to suck lemons but are you sure you want to go for the smallest combi and not step up a size to the 28kw? only asking as it will help when the incoming mains is only a few degrees.

will pm you with some tips when you are installing it plus stuff you need to look out for.

Only got a mira shower, kitchen sink and a wash basin, so 9-10 Ltrs/min should be plenty.

Any tips will be great.

I was looking at the gas rate and it's only 1.9m³/h tops.

Heatings about 8Kw.

well the 24/18 does have good minimum output on ch 5.6kw.

are you planing to keep your ch system open vented or making it sealed.

if keeping it open vent i would not bother getting a fixing kit and just source your on valves. if you are getting a fixing kit then would get the robo one as it comes with better valves.

Ordered the A kit with the mounting frame. as will almost certainly make it a sealed system.

Not sure whether the rads will take the pressure but can deal with that, I know the pipes and valves are good even if they are 36 year old.

I could change the kit for the robo what do you think.

if you a know a place were you can put the expansion vessel then the kit B is the one to go for. to be frank the jig is a little flimsy to be honest.

kit b will mean you can hang the boiler much more easily and it will come with full bore butterfly valves. the Kit A is a bit of a fudge to get the EV down the back. i now have 4 jigs in the garage, were i took the EV and valves out of them as it was, as it was just easer

kit B Kit A only if you have too or have to pipe up the back of the boiler.

also you are free to get your own EV and valves. the one in my house i got my own valves and use a flat EV so i could put it down the back of the washing machine

another good ideal is not to use the cold full bore valve out of kit B and use 15mm screw down valve(stop cock) as intergas boiler don't come with flow regulates. with the stop cock you can use it to set the flow rate through the boiler to what ever you wish.

What I would like to do, is fit the new boiler next to the old one, then swap the pipes over and remove the cylinder.

Have to remember I'm not as fast as I used to be so could be a 2 dayer with no heating.

they are price exactly the same so people were free to choose.

i think kit A has a 8L EV and Kit B is 12L. not to worry if its to late to change it. only a pain in the arse to hang the boiler, once it's on the jig. it on but you will be at it

As above space will be tight, until I get the old stuff out, so the easier the better.
