Got a dentist's appointment in the new year?

Post by Stoday »

Hate the idea of having a little needle stuck in you?

Look Stoday's lot having two of these needles stuck in his arm three times a week.

The left one's sharp, the right blunt (for sticking in the hole made 2 days before).

Your dentist's needle isn't so bad now, is it?

It's OK if they stick it into the vein first time, but quite often the vein moves and they miss it. So they pull the needle out and stick it in again.

Sometimes they dig around and I say "Hey, you're not digging up Fred West's garden".

How do I put up with it? Well, one or two weeks without dialysis and you'll have a dead Stoday. I just remember how bad I was just before I started dialysis. A bit ago I found a list of what nurses look for to assess if a patient's dying. There were ten tick boxes; I ticked five of them. I just remember those times and I can put up with the needle torture.

Too right Stoday, if you look at it in the right light. :thumbright:

I remember when I had the Cancer op, there's this silly bitch trying to get me in the right frame of mind as I may need a bag Blah Blah. ::b

So I says to her, if the choice is Bag or Box, She thinks I got a funny attitude.

Was at the GP's last week for my pre-chemo blood samples and I said to the nurse that I was thinking of changing my name to A. Stone. When she asked why, I said that she was really having problems getting blood out of A Stone.

The time before she had three goes at getting a vein, and then went and got another nurse to have a go, twice. Still with no success, they said " Anne is good at finding the little buggars and so they went and got this other lass who I did not recognise. She came in, slapped my arm a few times and dived straight in and got the samples. I asked where they found her and was she a female world class darts player because she seemed good with the sharp points

Still with, I think, only one more chemo session, I will only have to go through it one more time. Hopefully.

Keep your chin up, Stods. It is for your good health.
