john, out of interest what controls you plan to fit with the boiler?

bare in mind it is an opentherm boiler so you can fit modulating controls and the outside sensor is fairly cheap for intergas. got my one at home hook up to remeha isense.

also i hope you will be running the drain inside if you can with this cold weather doing so much mischief with condensing boiler.

I already have an energy management gadget with an outside sensor, I may look to see if it can be used, if not I can add it later.

You have to remember there will be no hot water or heating during the change over, so I'm looking at 8 hours to get it up and running.

Condensate will run straight into the soil pipe about 18" from the boiler.

Only thing I'm a bit worried about is I only have 1.8m between the flue and the Church. and may have to alter the flue with a diverter kit on if it's a problem.

the flue you get with intergas now is the "rhino", the poc get fired upwards to get better separation between poc and the intake air.

hopefully the one you get will be like that.

you could send it off to the right if twist it that way though i'm not sure if it is allowed...

There's always a breeze between the properties so I don't think it will be a problem, so I'll try it first.

You open a window, stick your hand out to feel the temperature and then switch the boiler on or off?

You dont have an electric imersion heater? Solution is to fit one first on a fly lead!

In that case you only have to divert it on a Sunday! Or just call yourself ( as installer ) back later to fit a diverter if the churchwarden complains! Or just turn the boiler off during the services!

We've been fitting energy management and weather compensation for 50 years Tony Most was well designed and built to last. The Servowarm Energy manager has been around for 40 years ish. There's certainly nothing new with all the fancy talk about weather compensation saving the planet etc.

The plan when one fits a combi is to remove the cylinder and old boiler, when one sits virtually on top of the other, the cylinder is the first to go, apart from the problem of working over the cylinder, the pipes etc will be in the way, and in any case I can do without hot water for a day.

The Church won't complain especially as I recently donated a £5k picture to hang up in the main hall.

sadly been only young I don't know the old style management systems work

the outside sensor with intergas will directly vary the flow temp. the cooler it get outside the higher the flow temp. nothing more complex then that.

the good think about going for the smallest combi is you can get to a point(when its cold enough outside) were that boiler can modulate down below the heatloss. so you can get it to run with out cycling.

Most of the bigger ones, controlled the flow of water, whereas mine controls the modulation.

Be interesting to see whether it works.

I went for the smaller model as it is more than enough for my needs, and the heating is loads so can be turned down to around 10Kw.

I have got loads of the extra seal kits when you need them - they last about as long as Vaillant burner gaskets

The new boiler is sitting in the Lounge and looks in good condition.
