Epson Stylus photo R340 printer - paper feeding problem
Hi all,
First time visit to the computer forum. I have a printer paper feeding problem which is rendering my printer useless at the moment.
Ok, when I load paper and want to print out a document the bottom right of the feeded paper begins to feed through the machine, but the rest of the paper does not go through. Instead it creases up and jams. Do I need to take the printer back to PC World (where I got it originally) for repair or is it something that's easy to do myself???
Am using the back of old scrap paper, (my way of recycling paper not needed anymore) but this has never failed me yet as I have printed out loads of stuff on this type of paper and cannot see why it is causing a problem now.
Hoping someone can explain.....
Cheers

Have you checked there's not a staple or other stuck in the machine.

Don't have an Epson, but is there an access door at the back of it where you can get to the insides in case of paper jam?
If so check the rollers to see if any have any paper from previous jams, wrapped around them causing lack of grip. Suggest you check the roller at the opposite side to where it takes the paper initially.

Hi The Scruff & Dave M,
Ok problem solved and have found the offending item to be one of my boy's small pencils!!!!
We all know what it's like when little fingers take over the PC so thanks guys for suggesting what you did.
Just got to suss how to get it out now coz it's well and truly wedged under the rollers where you can't see anything. Apart from taking the back off there is no access panel, now where's that crow bar gone...............

Before you start anything, disconnect the lead from the computer, then pull out the power lead.

Hi The scruff & Dave,
Yep done all that. Tis a happy printer now It was a pencil caught under the feeder rollers, good old shake up did the trick like you said!
Didn't realise it was one of the best ones, but I did pay £340 for it about 3-4 yrs ago so I thought it was a reasonable one. Had only just come out on the market for a few months, upgraded from a stylus 600 colour and woah what a difference!!!!
Do you use genuine epson ink or 3rd party?? I use 3rd party (mainly for the price) and the photo's I have printed fade after a short time. Is this a general characteristic for 3rd party ink?? Suppose really to use the genuine stuff yeah??? Everyday printing is ok though.
Cheers again

3rd party GC, I can get all 6 for not much more than 1 at PC World.
Photo's fade even with the genuine cartridges, so I normally laminate them, and they keep the color well.

GC,
There are plenty of offers of free prints on the web, just Googloe 'Free Photo Prints', you only pay for the postage.
Both ALDI and LIDL offer you 100 6" x 4" prints for free and you just pay for the postage, when you register with them.
Others, off the top of my head that I have used are:
Snapfish, Kodak, Jessops, & Tesco.
Well worth the cost of postage to save on photo paper and inks that may fade after a short time.
You can work it well and get about 1,000 prints for free and as soon as they start sending the emails with further offers, you can unsubscribe to them and no problems.

Re: Epson Stylus photo R340 printer - paper feeding problem
Thanks for the info The scruff & Dave m.
We have been getting our pictures from a local photo shop off the mobile and (when I do have the time to use) my camera!!! Will let my partner do the shop bit coz I'm very fussy about where I get the pictures from.
Will carry on using the 3rd party ink then, certainly is cheaper. Laminating pictures hadn't considered, but good suggestion, will see what my other half says to that.
Thanks again guys - happy printing
