Recommend a Shed?

Post by gib_goblin »

I mentioned in another thread that I'm planning to replace my garden shed with a newer building.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience or can recommend a shed supplier?

I bought a shed from this firm http://www.gardenbuildingsdirect.co.uk/

Good quality, cheapish and delivery was spot on when they said.

When I bought my shed recently, I found this place to be the cheapest online at the time:-

Thanks for those links, I've got my concrete base all nice and level and now I'm wondering....What about dampness?

How does one guard against damp penetrating the floor of the shed, do you place it on a plastic sheet ontop of the concrete?

put the shed on some timber bearers so it isnt sitting directly on the floor, then hopefully the bearers will rot if anything and not the shed base

You can use damp proof course strip to lay under the floor joists where they rest on the base. Or, if you can get hold of some, use the blue plastic damp proof membrane sheet.

The shed floor allows air to circulate and damp is not normally a big issue.

I've order an 10'x8' from ShedStore.
They are the best price I could find for the Walton workshops, the order includes erection on delivery but they quote 25working days for delivery.

Arggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Damn cat!

I have just spent a whole day laying the new concrete base for my shed...it was smooth, and finished last night, I'd covered it perfectly in thin a layer of water (the shuttering acted as a barrier) and what do I find this morning....

bl@@dy cat prints all across one side, and oh no it didn't just cross it once, but three time!

Who else has had their hard work ruinined by random animals?

It's normally the kids that you have to watch!

I once poured a concrete base for a garage and it was 18 feet by 11 feet and I had to sit there all day until it set or the kids would of been throwing allsorts in it! A bird left a few claw prints in one corner!
