It would be very useful if anyone who has completed a 'geen' energy saving project of whatever kind (from replacing all your bulbs with CFL/LED up to a new house-build with all the green options on the market) could post a brief summary of what they did, how much it cost and the savings so far/projected.
Establishing a sort of database of usefulness against cost would (might) encourage others to follow suit. If we could all observe the following 'rules' regarding these post the database would be much more accessible to others:
1. Place your post in the MY GREEN PROJECT thread.
2. Do NOT reply to any posts in that thread - if you have a comment to make, please start a new thread and refer to it therein.
Examples of 'cons' would also be appreciated as I'm quite sure there are companies out there who are making wild claims about savings in order to get you to sign up. Please observe any proper cautions against legal repercussions if naming names.
There is no escaping the move towards energy saving and, as with any new technology, pro's and con's of each system are best observed as the technology (efficiency) progresses and prices come down. This new forum section and the threads herein will, hopefully, become a place where potential customers for green/energy saving products can come for impartial advice and real-world examples.
Thanks

Re: Anyone completed a 'green' energy saving project?
there was a guy on here (hoovie i think his name was/dancing cat avatar); his solar heating system inspired me but would love to know how its working out for him.
its a good idea this but i cant be so helpful yet. ive done the change your bulbs to low wattage but then ive also added items that drain more power so cannot work out an accurate drop in cost to run.
i can however confirm that these CFL's are sh!te and really depressing when you first switch them on.

Anyone had experience of the 'solar PV' method? The full page adds in national newspapers (offering 100% 'free' electricity) seem a bit 'snake oil' to me....
