Quick rad cover

I started this yesterday morning and got it finished today. I shall deliver it at the end of the week to make sure the primer is fully dry.

It is made of MDF of course and I gave it a couple of coats of primer with a foam roller. Glad to say I am not painting it though.

Would be unusual, they are normally fixed quite well.

Just unfix them then!!

LOL, Gadget has it right. It will be held in place with a french cleat and can lift off when needed. All of the valves will be covered, (Customers request) HTH.

look great was talking to a wood guy and he was telling me painting the grill bit is the a total pain in the arse

but as a heating bloke I hate them should pack it with insulation and have done with it

I got the rad cover fitted this morning. Customer was over the moon with it I am glad to say, (more importantly his wife was delighted with it)

Turned out to be an easy fit as I had already cut out the skirting profile and there were no pipes to cut around. :D

Still say from experience, a few plumbers will be cussing you down the line.

Normally the front panel would come out for servicing, so once the box gets decorated and the gaps sealed etc, it will get wrecked trying to get at the radiator.

Ok for a minute, the client knows how it comes off, but in a year or two.

I modified ours to do just that, the covers are held in grooves,
1, slide the cover to the right
2, lift out
3, do whatever
4, put back slide to left.

Got fed up taking all the cr@p SWMBO stores on the top just to do a simple job.

just out of curiosity how long does it take you to make? why did you paint by hand?, last rad cover i did had loads of little diamonds on the frill so i ended up buying a cheap hvlp sprayer

Well Speed it took me a day to make it and another day to paint it (Two coats) I should add the grille section was already painted though. (I have a stack of them in my shop) The grilles that is. If I had had to paint the grille I would certainly have sprayed it though.

That is how I fix mine also except I buy my cleats in England.
