staircase update...
staircase-t16632.html
Hi all,
Been a while since Ive been one here!
Thought I'd post a pic of how my stairs look since its been decorated. Original thread link above.
Left the lining, ceilings and wallpapering to the decorator.
Ive replaced all woodwork with new - thats skirting, picture rails, architrave and window sills and flooring.
Built the big cupboard for storage and meters (will post a new thread for that) and the small cupboard under the stairs is the 'cat cupboard'. Still needs a couple coats of paint and handle putting on.
Cat cupboard has another cat flap through the outside wall - this was the only place we could put it.

Re: staircase update...
Stairs and cupboard look good. nice individual use of the space.
Hopefully gas board etc will have no trouble changing meter over if they see fit!

Re: staircase update...
It is a bit naughty but then again they can obviously live with the restricted access. potential buyer when they come to sell, will be able to rip it out quite easily to leave proper width at bottom of stairs.big-all wrote:stunning job well done

Re: staircase update...
Thanks guys.
Never thought about the space at the bottom of the stairs. House was built in 1937 and as far as I know, and from seeing other houses on the estate, there has always been a cupboard at the bottom of the stairs.
Space at the bottom measures 55cm from front of bottom step to cupboard. Im sure I've left plenty of room for gas and electric. Will post the in-progress pics tomorrow.

Re: staircase update...
This post was originaly an update on the stairs due to the dislike of the original wallpaper!
I posted a new topic for the cupboard.
If you want to see the cupboard with some in progress pics have a look at this post...

Re: staircase update...
a landing area is defined as at least a square the tread width
the regs also say a sphere 100mm across must not pass through any part off the stairs or banisters and lots off people flout that reg
it may or may not be picked up when you sell i personally wouldn't worry
the comment was more to let people know it is covered by regs
