Simple compressor storage

Post by Crossfire »

Today I got bored so decided to start building the box for the compressor to go in. My parents have gone away for a few days and I was told not to do any while they were away, but decided to anyway :)

This took me about two hours to complete and just need some plywood now to finish the floor, top and sides.

Heres what I've done so far, probably not upto most of your standards but I am a 16 year old girl :p

Nice start Crossfire, make sure you make some holes in the plywood though when you fit the top and sides or the compressor won't have air to suck in to fill the tank or to cool the motor. And don't put yourself down everyone is still learning. Keep us updated.
P.S, clean that floor before you trip & kill yourself.

Nice Work Cassie :thumbright: .When i used to have one I lined the box with old carpet to reduce the noise,To vent it I bought 2 of these
Image from Screwfix and left the back open,I used small off cuts of the frame timber to stand the case off the wall to allow air flow from the rear

Nice work Crossfire, makes some of the things I've seen look childish!!!!

Same comments as above.....I've got a similar sized oil cooled compressor which got damaged by overheating after an extended usage session. I was painting a fence and put it in the porch and fed the airline through the letterbox to cut down noise.

came back to check it and oil was bubbling out the seals and it was about 9000000 degrees!!!!

Ooops.

Still fine though.......

Thanks everyone, it isn't the most exciting or elaborate project ever but there was quite a few cut and joints to make so it was good practice for my next project I'm starting soon plus it was fun which is what its all about really.

Haven't finished it yet, I'm hoping that some of the offcuts I will have will be ok to use.

Well done.

I bet you can't wait for your mummy and daddy to go away again, so you can finish it. More pics to follow?

My missis walked in while I was looking at the pic of the nail gun. Took one look at the screen and said "NO!" in a mega stern voice.

I was bad enough with an electric one I borrowed.....they really can fire pins a distance when you've sussed out the guard bit! :?

She has visions of me pinning myself to the table....or worse.....

I must echo the point about ventilation/cooling. Its suprising how warm they will get in an enclosed space.

Is the box going outside, to keep the noise down in the workshop a bit?
