Worktop jigs
I need to buy a new worktop jig, dont fancy paying out £250 on another Trend all singing all dancing one unless i really have to although they are great jigs. Any alternatives out there that you can recommend?
Many thanks

Re: Worktop jigs
i have one of these
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-TOPFORM-1000- ... 784wt_1141
they claim to have invented the jig 20 odd years ago? gives a nice joint with good pegs, unlike the unika jig

I've got one of those too, and agree with Speed.speed wrote:i have one of these

One day it will all be firewood.

That's cheap! if it is any good then I don't think you'll find a cheaper 1000.
What's the flex like in it? that's the main problem with the cheaper ones. I have the Trend Combi1002 which I see has come down in price since I bought it

Re: Worktop jigs
The topform sound decent enough but boy they are cheap.
The unika looks quite impressive also but concerned with what is written about the pins
Trend now do a KW900 which is designed specifically for kitchen fitting which looks good and is reasonably priced but as you can tell cannot do more than 900mm however saying that I haven't done more than 600mm in a long time but its always good to know that you can. There is no length stop either which was always useful. Sounds like I am talking myself back into a Trend 1002 but is i worth another 100 sovs?

Re: Worktop jigs
the pins on the unika wont move. the link is showing those mdf jigsyou can get for £20 on ebay. the link is for slight seconds, although the performance wont be impaired.
i might buy one for a spare for my spare.

Re: Worktop jigs
Just as an update I finally bought the Trend KWJ 900, super bit of kit and I managed to buy it for £114 from powertool direct. Bargain!
To add to it all my trusted router packed in so I needed to buy another on the quick so went for an Erbauer out of screwfix, wasnt expecting much but it performed extremely well, plenty of grunt and some good accessories. A lot of bang for your buck.
