tiles on resin? floor

Just about to tile porch floor, took old laminate up and was about to treat as thought it was bare concrete but it has a covering of resin or thats what it looks like so do i need to treat this before tiling or can i just go ahead and use good powdered adhesive???

It may well be slc,its a black covering over concrete base that looks like a resin :oops:

will try and get pics.

Would be very handy to know which make of dpm it is as some of them you can latex straight onto and some of them you can't.

sounds like liquid DPM, probably an extension porch, use a self levelling latex to cover the bitumen paint, check with the manufacturers of the latex prior to using, making sure it is compatible.

If you cannot find a compatible latex, you need to try another coat of bitumen dampseal on top. Whilst it is still wet, kiln dried sand to the surface. When it is fully dry, remove the excess sand and this will provide you with a keyed layer bonded to the bitumen.

I tiled a cloakroom like this five years ago and it hasn't lifted.

a slurry coat(sbr/cement) ovet it..

Sorry about the nerve in your back...........not nice.

Shame you aren't an Indian because you could have just sat there and directed the wife as she completed the task pmsl.

I parked near to a house a few years back to watch an indian man directing his wife as she laid the block paviors lol.
