Cracked tile in shower above tray

Post by guy999 »

Hi
Had a leak coming from shower tray, so decided to take out tray and replace quadrant glass shower enclosure.

All went to plan however now that finished, have realised that one the tiles on the wall above the tray that also has the frame attached to it has a crack,a good 8inch semi circle.

Dont have any spare tiles, house was tiled and probably had existing leak before i bought it.

Can i seal a cracked tile????

Or thinking of maybe overtiling just at the bottom and siliconing the top, but not sure if this will look bad... what would i use for this? Some form of border?

Falling this its start over, but not sure now how easy it would be to get quadrant out

after you have looked under the bath under the stairs in the cellar and attic

if you can get the tile out in one piece[with just one crack]
you can try and clear the grout out and extract a tile from a less visible water free area and swap
we are all ------------------still learning

My first thought too, most bathroom fitters will leave any spares under the bath, if they are as thoughtful as me you may find a whole sqm.

Other than that you can try and source a replacement. You could try and get the exact same tile, even if the tile has been discontinued you may still have a bit of luck here http://www.tilesinyourgarage.com/ or failing that, take off the whole bottom row of tiles and introduce an accent tile. Don't try and go for a similar tile as that will look as though you tried to match the existing and failed. Go for a completely different tile
