Just bought a hitachi circ saw...good purchase..?
Got a big job coming up 17 roofs (4 bed) on price..,need a circ saw that's light but powerful,just bought one: 'Hitachi C7SB2 185mm Circular Saw 1,710watt C7SB2 110v'
Had an older version of hitachi C7 but it let me down, gave it to my apprentice, he didn't like it either, gave it back to me??? left on site!
Now had quite a few circ saws now, my makita dust collector is a nice tool but not one to take upto roof plate level! Tried makita,bosch,dewalt..ect
Been looking malwaukie 28v cordless circ saws to take upto the top lift of scaffold but jezz at £512+???? no cables and no power lag from length of cable power drain it's tempting....is lithi-ion the way forward??

Wait until Hitch sees this post, he is called hitachimad in a few other forums. I believe he likes his Hitachi tools and if they are good enough for a metalworker then they should tackle most other jobs with ease!
I used to have a dewalt 24v but I sold it on ebay along with a few other dewalt tools of various voltages and with the money I bought the dewalt 18 volt 5 kit, then the right angle drill, grinder, sds drill, vacuum and spare torch. My 18 volt cordless circular is not as good as the 24 volt one as you can not adjust the depth of cut or angle it, you could with the 24 volt!
The Milwaukee are extremely expensive and I can't see why to be honest.
Personally I love Bosch Blue tools but there range was limited until recently, now they do some great cordless tools.
Lithi-ion batteries seem to be the future, no memory ffect and much lighter than their counterparts!
Are you a roofer or Joiner Alfy?

I have only had mine a couple of weeks and used it a few times.
Very powerfull, doesnt slow for anything! It is light as you say, and the angle stop has an adjuster to ensure tru 90 which works well.
Cant say much more yet!!

Me too...I wing as much as I can....only jokeing. Basic geometry involved, get used to the roofing square and it's not so complicated as it looks. The roof is only a triangle after all remember that and your half way there.ultimatehandyman wrote:I must admit that I would not like to cut any roofing joints as some of the compound mitres seem very complicated to me!Alfy wrote:Sorry for the late reply Ultimate...I'm a 1st & 2nd fix chippy.
