Restoring Quarry tiles

Post by craig1 »

Hi, Having lifted the carpet in my hallway I discovered old Quarry tiles. They seem in good condition and I'm sure they are layed directly on earth. I want to clean them up and re grout where needed. Also will I need to seal the tiles as I've read that because the tiles are layed on earth you don't seal? What type of grout is required?

Thanks
Craig.

here's the cleaner http://www.extensive.co.uk/product.php/ ... cleaner-1l and also other products you may require, sand based grout are perfect for quarries, like Ardex c2, or any wide joint floor grout. hope it helps

Thanks very much. I take it the sealer can be used on tiles layed on earth that need to breathe? Also is slate dressing any good for sealing quarry tiles?
