Hi guys
I will be completing a loft conv soon where the bathroom floor is to be tiled, I understand that if I use chipboard flooring I would need to fix hardboard on top before tiling or is there a better choice than chipboard to start with?
Many thanks
Al

I don't quite get this 'can't tile onto chipboard'...............my work, I don't tile onto it but will if it is a sub contract job and I have been told to.
We do work on so many developments which are 15 years old (plus) and tiling has been done straight onto the chipboard and it is still as good as the day it was finished. Even strangely enough on the floating floors.
Better choice than chipboard would be ply, or as you mention a backer board, ditra mat.

Re: Tiling a wooden floor
Thanks guys I will look into ditra mat. I have done some work in some fairly new houses recently (6 years old or so) and a number of them have cracks in the upstairs bathroom floors.
