tiling directly onto plasterboard?

Could you advise me if its okay to tile directly onto new plasterboard?
I have been told as long as its pva' d it is okay.
The plasterboard is covering our old larve and plaster walls which were revealed when we took off the old tiles.
We are looking at tiling with tiles 600 x600.

Don't PVA the plaster board if you intend to tile directly to it.

Do you not need to skim plasterboard first before tiling, unlike aqua panel where you just tile straight onto it

No but it's not recommended for shower enclosures, hence aqua panel and tanking.

Im aware of the issues with wet areas and plasterboard I was more concerned with the tile weight pulling the paper away from the rest of the board.

A skimmed plasterboard wall will actually hold a lot les than a non skimmed plasterboard wall.
