Tiling over adhesive

Post by leebwk »

I'm going to lay some travertine tiles in our hallway but upon removing the carpet i have found that the floor has been originally tiled with plastic/vinyl marley tiles, these come up quite easily but they leave which i can only presume is the black coloured adhesive, does anybody know if it is ok to tile over the top of this or should i seal it with levelling compound.

Many thanks in advance

It is probably a bitumen adhesive and usually it is sealed with a levelling compound. Have a chat with Bal, they are really helpful.

Be ok to tile straight onto with something like Bal flexible sticky.

But WHITE if Travertine :thumbright:
