30 quid! you could have that just for cutting plaster coving! :lol:

coming to a market stall or carboot sale near you, brand new, chopsaw, 45 quid... :roll:

i've had one for a while and its great :)

done decking with it and it blasted through the joists no problem

yeh?

i was seriously thinking of having one just cos theyre that cheap...
its more the stability and accuracy of em that makes a half decent chopsaw...
whats it like on mitres?
build quality is to be expected but for odd little jobs....
how much you pay for it at the time?

I have a super cheap SF one i bought, must have been 9-10 years ago. Seen off a number of blades, welded the aluminium fence up after a bit of hardwood got jammed.....modified the compound angle lever after i dropped something on it, often cuts stuff bigger than it should.

Cant go wrong for the price. Okay, its not for fine joinery, but garden woodworking, bits of batten, cant be bad.

Been in B&Q Preston today and they have the same chop saw at £30. So anyone wanting one can use the 15% coupon until tomorrow. £25.50 is a good price for it.

You'll be glad you bought it mate :)

its built in "toy-Like" plastic if you know what i mean

i dont use it much but when i do it does the business on decking

Mitre cuts - it surprisingly does very well on them, perfect for whenever i've needed it

on the decking it was like a hot knife through butter, mines was set perfectly out the box! think someone at the factory had a wee go with it to make sure lol!!!

its been £30 for ages mate, i got it last year when i spied it at £30

had a look at the display model last week, almost bought it but other things like getting the job done took precedence..... :lol:

its only the surround for the base thats plastic though innit, and the motor case obviously but it didnt feel like 30 quids worth if im honest.. more like 80 quids worth but its all about the mitre cut, depth all that and it'll do cornice, pelmet with a decent blade in it...

In an emergency about 4 years ago I got a similar one from B&Q for £25, and it's still going strong!

Got one of these myself.

Can't fault it for performance, does some clean cuts with the blade supplied.

One problem I do have with it, is the release for the blade guard. I believe it requires a little fettling to function again, but I haven't had need for it again yet.
