Possible the worst bathroom I have ever seen!

This is where you can post pictures of extremely poor workmanship, whether it is done by a dodgy tradesman or by an incompetent DIY'er. Instructions on how to post pictures can be found in here.

Possible the worst bathroom I have ever seen!

Post by Beachcomber »

Hard to know where to start with this utter shambles of a bathroom - installed by a builder about 8 years ago apparently.

Nice tiling:

Lovely sink cabinet - build flush to the bath edge so the panel is pushed in!
Image

And the other end has a lovely cut out for pipes:
Image

Why tile all the way up when filling the last inch and a half with filler / adhesive will do:
Image

This join is slap bang in the middle of a wall?? Can only guess he tiles from one side, then started from the other and hashed the join when the 2 sides met:
Image

Nice clean hole for the overflow
Image

This is not a dodgy camera angle - the window does really look like this!
Image

Nice uphill waste - in amongst all the carp left behind
Image

Water pipes for sink floating in mid air:

These are just a few of the stack of cock-ups - it's a proper mess.

Worst of all - it's my bloomin bathroom! Been promising the missus to sort it since we moved in, now I've got 1 week to rip the lot out and re-do it :?

Should be fun!

Check the newspaper for the date, looks more like the bloke put it in himself and is too embarrassed to say.

Are you keeping the tiles
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work

Don't think Beachcomber would have made the post if it was a DIY job.

I love the narrow strips of tile in the shower corner. Classy!
I started out with nothing, I still have most of it.

Might do - never done a full bathroom on my own before so this will be a bit of fun.

The 'hedgehog' in the second pic is a brush - hammer can be seen on the sink, took the pics just after I started to rip the old tiles off the wall - to reveal studwork made of old skip salvage

Excellent thread. Each pic leads you to think what a w*** the guy was who installed it and then you hit us with the sucker punch that it's your bathroom! Brilliant. OK, so you didn't fit it yourself  Can't wait to see the finished pics.

The fun continues - heres what I've found today:

Why build a unit around the sink?
'cos they can't be arsed to run the c/w pipes properly!

More quality brickwork:
Image

Best bit yet - 2/3 of one wall seems to be made of an old wooden frame - still glazed!!!!
Image

Oh the joy of it all

Surely plasterboard/plastering was invented to conceal rubbish brickwork? :cb
