Cornice and pellet advice

Post by bgatty68 »

I have cut two corners as a test on the pelmet but it looks a bit poor on the edge, I am using a sliding saw with a blade with 40teeth is this fine enough or do I need a finer blade or am I doing something wrong? I know if the edge joints are rubbish they cant be filled in right so how do I cut them perfectly please help :help:

The join is poor on the edge, how??

The veneer wrap around the moulding is chipped away?

The mitre does not meet all along the join and has a gap in the middle?

Probably a combination of cheap machine, cheap blade, incorrect blade.

The vaneer wrap is chipped, I know the machine is cheap but would another finer blade help a bit? :cb

Finer blade would help although it will cost you more than the machine did.

Yes get a fine tooth blade and wrap the work in masking tape to help reduce chipping.A 40 tooth blade is too harsh buy a cheap Silverline 60 tooth blade for the job. Even though they are cheap blades I find they give good service.

70 teeth and above and I would have thought around the £100 mark for a decent quality one.

You will probably get a throw away blade such as Titan for less money out of screwfix.

Silverline for a tenner. I have used them and tipped them up with a file as needed. I switch blades so I do not bugger good ones on chipboard or MFC.

Just Google Silverline saw blades. Shop around for the cheapest as there are plenty on offer. :thumbright:
