Enough power

I was going to buy a Macallister 1500W router from b&q, but is this powerful enough to cut 40mm laminate kitchen worktops with? It has a 1/2" collet. I won't be using it regularly. Has anyone used this router at all? Also the Trend universal multibase has routers it will fit on the box but doesn't say this make, but I'm not sure if it would or not since it supposed to be universal. Any advice?

Not sure about the Macallister, why not rent a Trend and worktop jig for the weekend?

Thanks, but I want to buy a router anyway. I already have a jig so just wanted to know if 1500W is enough power. Can anyone advice at all?

I can, buy a DeWalt or Trend, don't mess about with cheap tools, they will cost you more in the long run.

1500w is a bit week my router has 2200w

what we need to remember is years ago 1100 -1600 was the range for 1/2 inch routers now they are 25 to 40% higher rated why i hear you ask ??
because the variable speed electronics use 25-40% off the rated value same with drills thats why your black and decker 450w suddenly turns into 680w
