I wondered what the chippy boys (I say that with affection  ) on here would think.

Howdens :? Sorry I have a serious dislike of that company when it comes to kitchens, other joinery it's good for but i'd still be waiting for the corner units if it was from them. To be fair it's been a good 5 years+ since I've bought a kitchen off them but last time I was in their trade kitchens don't seem to have got any better. Have they upgraded their hinges and drawers as standard yet?

Benchmarx units, ala Wickes, ala Gower. Not sure what the Wickes name is for it, but Benchmarx call it Soho :salute: :thumbleft:

You have made a beautiful job of that. I do like the choice of colours too. Is the worktop corian or granite?

 i know what you mean about stock control must have had 4 deliverys on this job im starting today (hope its right now)
they have changed the hinges but they are still poo, draws are poo too  need to make soft close as standard. they have started doing oak cbainates now which i like,

we dont have a benchmarx hear which is a shame as howdens have no real compatition .

do you do your own plumbing/electric/tiling to keep it all inhouse.

The problem with Howdens is their commission policy, the sales staff are desperate to get kitchens out even if they are incomplete so they can get the commission in their pay packets. It's another reason why if you've had a kitchen priced up they will ring you towards the end of the month asking if you still want it and knock off another couple of hundred quid if you take delivery of it before the end of the month. What good is half a kitchen to anybody? It just takes up room :angryfire:

Everything is done in-house except the gas. Normally I have a few of the guys with me but so busy at the moment we are spread a bit thin so the kitchen above I was pretty much on me lonsome save for a couple of days where I was playing catch up.

the last howdens kitchen i fitted had the crappy old style hinges. the one before must have been a higher end range as it had blum hinges and soft closers. and soft close drawer packs.

the kitchen inbetween those 2 howdens kitchens was an allied kitchen. they supplied blum clip on hinges as standard. but then wanted something daft like 300 quid for soft close mechanisms as they termed it. i bought the clip on blum buffers from ddm components for 30 quid and the client was more than pleased
