nope should be free ware...
the app should give you a list like this.
The rule is to disable non-Microsoft context menu handlers *one-by-one* and verify if the problem is solved. If disabling one does not solve the problem, undo the disabled item and disable the next non-Microsoft handler. Do the same until the problem is solved and finally identify the culprit. Scroll right to see the Company Name column in ShellExView.

NOTE: It's not always the Context menu handler, but a PropertySheet handler or an Icon Handler may be the culprit sometimes.
if all else fails try running sfc /scannow to fix the problem, although this will take about 45mins to an hour to run on some systems.

may have downloaded something else and not the app websites seem to be very good at misleading people from the actual application you are looking for.

Bingo! After disabling and enabling loads on the list I finally got to this one:
Express Zip File Compression Software Yes Context Menu No No No No No No C:\Program Files\NCH Software\ExpressZip\ezcm.dll {8EEA165E-0B8B-4BA7-9796-50214C767171} 26/04/2011 10:26:22 26/04/2011 10:26:23 No *, .cab, .rar, .zip, Folder A 768,512 No
......and the problem has now gone. Many thanks Dave. This has been bugging me for ages.
