Did you get the wall socket holes measured and cut out for you in the glass before fitting?
What adhesive did you use to hang the splashbacks?

Re: White and Aubergine Kitchen
Yes all cut outs have to be done before hand as the splashbacks are toughened. Some companies don't toughen their splashbacks and that's why when comparing quotes one might seem a lot cheaper than the others but it's much easier to break them and also from heat behind a hob. B&Q were selling untoughened splashbacks and had a lot of complaints when they went pop.

Re: White and Aubergine Kitchen
I guess a lot of the cost would go into the cutting of the glass as well as the glass itself if thats the case, I have rung a few companies and all offer a cutting service "at a price"

Re: White and Aubergine Kitchen
Depending on where you are prices will differ but expect to pay between £170-£200 a square meter. This price includes toughened glass, cutting and a painting colour of your choice (Note it's not any old paint used so don't expect to get it clear and paint yourself) on top of this expect to pay £35-£50 per cut out (i.e. sockets), then if any areas you want templating (like around a curved extractor fan) there are further set-up costs. Lastly fitting.
Splashbacks are to be fitted with a low modulus silicone (this won't eat in to the paint), Something like Silirub 2
The all-in price for the glass in the kitchen shown is around £1k from memory.
Glass splashbacks (done correctly) have a higher material cost than your average tiles but have a much cheaper install costs.
lastly please be aware there are minimum charges per piece which is normally 0.3 of a meter, so say you have some boxed in pipes you want to go around, even if the area of each peice of glass is 0.1sqm you would have to pay for 0.3sqm per peice.

Hi CR
i have been admiring this Kitchen for a year or so now and finally have a replica (of sorts). Still trying to find the perfect colour of splashback to finish out Kitchen and wondered if you could tell me what colour was used for this Kitchen?
Fab job btw, shame we are in scotland or we would have roped you in lol.
Thanks a lot

Re: White and Aubergine Kitchen
Hi Tanya,
It seems that quite a few people fall in love with that colour. Every year since we fitted it I get calls and emails from all over the country asking the very same question you have!
I'll have to dig out the paper work again. I can tell you it's not a 'named' colour but comes from dulux's professional fan deck and is a 'code' colour. I'll dig out the paperwork over the next few days and post it up here.
One important thing to remember is that the glass splash backs need to be low iron and not normal float glass or the colour will npt be the same, 'Low Iron' glass is clear (well almost), normal 'Float' glass has a green tinge to it, especially visable at the edges
Many thanks

Hi,
WOW CR; absolutely brilliant and a credit to you and inspiration to the rest of us. It's a shame to use it? Quality of workmanship to aspire to.
Kind regards, Col.
