Hi all, my Gateway laptop has decided not to power on or charge the battery..
I have checked the power adapter with a fluke 175 and it is fine.
When I checked power jack pins, I was getting steady 19.7 results when checking all ground points with the black lead and the red lead on the 'positive' soldered pin with the mains plugged in.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance...
Gary

Re: Gateway MT6842b Will not power on
Hi mhands, I have not seen any fuses on the board to check..
Can you see any from the pictures I have added or is there something else that I need to look at?
I am not familiar with everything on the board, so no doubt I probably will be missing out on something!!
Thanks for your response.

Re: Gateway MT6842b Will not power on
The fuses are very small, perhaps 3 to 5mm long, about 2mm across and (usually) a whiteish (ceramic) colour. Check the board component designations to look for 'F1' or 'FS1' or somesuch. You might even see a 'rating' like 5A or 10A printed on the top of the fuse.
Don't take it personally......
