Yes I know its the time of year!!...but....
...my Dvd/Cd rom will accept music discs no problem and auto play them..
But when I try to load some software programmes (legit not snide copies) or picture discs I have put together myself (Jpeg) the whole system completely freezes...forcing me to hit restart..
Now the strange part...when I go into my computer after restarting, the disc is there, recognised and ready for viewing/loading..
I am running XP 4 gig of Ram and an pentuim duel core processor 2.5 hrtz..the system is only about two years old and worked fine prior to a re-format I performed about 6 weeks ago..
Any thoughts?
Thank you..

Re: Freezing!
are you running a firewall that is set to scan plug/play devices?
other thing to check is your file types and what is set to open them. if you have installed something recently it may have overridden the original program you had set and subsequently thrown your system into a loop.
how long ago did you re-install and was it a clean install or an overwrite/repair?
