all i would add is if you buy the delta sheets for your bosh 180 multitool or similar check they stick as i had some lidl ones and the velcro is different so the would not stick

Ahh I love aldi, just bought a lovely shiny dewalt router, should go nicely.

I bought the router, it really is cheap. The height adjustment knob on the router broke before even using it. Have to go back and get my money back. The router table and bits are fine.

I ended up fixing my old router, and when clamping it down it seems firm, but when it came to routing a piece on the table I could see some play in the router. I'm guessing the router table only works best with it's own brand of router. I will give it another go tomorrow.

there should be no play[less than say 0.25mm]in the total setup
if you have more movement something is wrong
you often have to drill extra holes to give firm fixings but virtually any router will work with any table the only difference being 1/4 inch and half inch

Did you use machine screws to fix it to the table? Routers have threaded holes for this purpose in the base and sometimes you have to drill extra holes in the table to get the router firmly affixed.

I'll look into that, as i didn't use any screws, I only used the 4 camps on the table.

if the table uses clamps then normally that is suffice

can you try and work out where the play is ??

That router table looks like the B&Q McAllister table.

My comments apply to the B&Q so may not apply to this table. Anyway, for the B&Q version you have to demount the router to change the bit. That's cos they've put screens up so your fingers can't get caught under the table. Also setting the height of the bit is very difficult.

I bought a new table. I haven't quite got around to throwing the old table away, so if anyone wants it I'll give tit to them. They can pick it up from Ipswich for free.

I bought the table and bits and use them with a Dewalt router. So far only used it to make 5 hardwood newell post caps but it worked fine on them. The table was cheaper than the quote I got from the local wood merchant to make the caps. You can change the bit with the Dewalt fixed to the table but it is a bit fiddly. The router did not move when held by the 4 table clamps but this was not a particularly difficult job.
