Good morning UHM-ers
I've got a problem with the trackpad on my acer 7715, every so often it'll just freeze up and stop moving, it'll still click but it just won't move.
If I press the "disable/enable" mouse button a couple of times it works again for a minute of so then freezes up.
Tried rolling back and reinstalling the drivers, giving it a virus scan and reseating the ribbon cable.
Any ideas where to go next?
I'm totally skint so replacing it to see if that works is not an option.

Re: Touchpad throwing a fit
have you tried completely removing it through device manager and then re-installing?
make sure there are no installed drivers for it at all and then re install

Re: Touchpad throwing a fit
I've taken it apart, blown the crap out of it with the spray air, given the connections a bit of rubbing alcohol and it seems to have remedied the problem for now.
Cheers for the help though Root.
And Wine-o, don't even get me started, I know how bad acers are. If I had enough work on I'd be ditching it for a more capable desktop, consumer grade laptops in general don't stand a chance with what I use them for. The amount of stuff I've had to fix and bodge on it, if it were a customers laptop and I was charging labour I'd have retired.
Wait til I get a bit more work on and upgrade to a nice dual monitor desktop CAD/ Music Production workhorse. On that day I'm going to be severely tempted to have a laptop barbecue...
