Plumbers' adjustable spanner

Post by Dickie »

I thought these were a good buy for £3.30 @ Amazon.co.uk

http://www.dktools.com/hand_03.htm

But don't blame me if they break after being used a couple of times!!!

Close Dickie but those ones are rubbish. The jaws are too long and flimsy which make them quite dangerous as they slip when you apply a lot of power.

These 4" bad boys are the ones to go for. Less than a fiver and just about as good as the same size Bahcos - except they open wider

How wide do the jaws go Razor?? Wide enough for a 22mm compression nut?? They certainly look stronger jaws, but shorter handle??

Sorry, I missed the postage they're £7.24 @ Amazon.co.uk

You can do 28mm comp nuts up with them although the jaws aren't deep enough for really tight work but they are so short they get used all the time. Great for 22mm

I was on the tools today & used this adjustable spanner. And it gets a big........... :thumbright:

Feels nice in your hand & never slipped once and hey, if I loose it I'm not going to be that much out of pocket.
So yeah, I'd recommend this tool.

Oh there's no debate, the Bahco ones are quality.

Which one Dickie? I've looked on Amazon and there's hundreds of different models.

Thanks for the advice! I've just bought these... my son's always pinching my spanners so figured I'd get him some of his own to play with - if they do fall apart then it's no biggy, but I hope they last!

Just as a wee footnote on Plumbers' tools; I've been looking for a 40mm wood spade bit for yonks, just for Bath & Sink waste pipes going through units etc. I walked into Wicks today & there it was, not only that but with a 1/4" hex shaft!! Magic!!!
It works a treat, perhaps a wee bit tight on some 40mm pipes, but with a quick rasp, sorted!!!!........... :thumbright:
