Screwfix Trade Counter Glasgow

Post by The Weegie »

What is it with this store.

Never any stock available. 3 different sizes of screws not in stock :angryfire: Bag of nails. Nope not in stock. :angryfire: Pack of trimming blades. Nope not in stock :angryfire:

I could give you more examples, but im sure you get the picture. You wait ages on a phone for the branch to answer. This was 10.30 on a Sunday morning by the way. Not really a busy time I imagine.

Is this common with Trade counters??? I have never had problems with Toolstation. Always have items in stock and staff are friendlier.
It may seem difficult at first! But everything is difficult at first.

I have only ever been to two stores, the one in Preston and the one in Accrington.

I only went in both stores for 2 things and each time one item was out of stock

You are much better off ordering online and getting the free delivery, even if it takes you a few weeks to check out because the 10% off code does not work

Online for me too. Can't be bothered faffing around at trade counters, only to be met with blank looks, and "Sorry mate, I don't think it's in stock". ::b

Last time I went (a few weeks ago), the item I wanted was in stock, but getting to the counter was another thing. Only two customers in front of me. First one pays, but the computer is running really slow so takes about 5 minutes to print the receipt out. Next customer asks, if they have one of these (holds up some non descript item) and then says "You have them in the catalogue but the one I want has a wider flange on it." "Can I have a look at one to see if it will fit?" Checkout lass goes back to the warehouse to retrieve the item the customer already knows is wrong and returns about 10 minutes later with the offending item. Customer then spends 5 minutes looking at it and comparing it with the one he'd brought in. "Don't think it will do, I'll go and see if B& Poo have them instead."
Grrr at least 25 minutes of my life passed by, just to buy a simple light fitting. ::b ::b ::b

i always check first on the puter if they have what i want, and its usually ok, the thing I hate about the trade counters, they ask, for your name, postcode, number on door, then if you are using a credit card, anyone behind you can note your pin, if you're not carefull, has then enough information to visit your property rob you, and use the card to withdraw cash,
always cover your card when paying,
since uncovering a wasps nest in a bathroom refit and getting everyone out , I became an unstung hero,

The Falkirk branch is the same mate. Every time I order there's always at least one item out of stock which totally defeats the purpose. When this happens now I take my business elsewhere and do not order anything. If everyone done this they might get the picture. Like yourself I'm slowly veering towards Toolstation although there's not a branch locally the free delivery over £10 appeals to me. Competition is a great thing why can't Screwfix do this?
