Sending and receiving fax message

Post by mhow »

My laptop runs Windows 7 Home Premium,Service Pack 1 and connects to the internet by wireless modem. If I want to send and receive a fax message has the exterior fax modem got to be plugged into a phone line or is there some method of utilising my Windows Live Mail account.Any tips or advice gratefully received. One more important point,is faxing expensive?.

you have three choices that I can see.....

1. Click Start > type fax and click Windows Fax and Scan

You need a fax/modem in your computer/laptop and you need to be connected to a phone line to send and receive.

2. Sign up for an online fax service. They give you a virtual number to receive faxes and email you when you get a new one. They normally send you a PDF copy to your email, or you goto a web portal and download.

3. Use a free online fax service if you only need to send one and don't want the hassle of payment. The downer? Most of them put adverts onto your faxes and are plastered around the website making them a bit :pukeleft:

I'm sure there are more, those just popped out to me....

Search for 'free online fax services' and some of the advertised based ones will pop up, I found about 4 - don't want to link as I've not done any research.

I did find one that offers a couple of free faxes and has a PAYG plan: http://www.pamfax.biz/en/rates/

Again, don't know if it's anygood.
