Removing tiles

Post by Rapier503 »

Generally if you remove tiles do you need to replaster before you tile again?

I am just going to start work on replacing a bathroom an was going to do a tiling course. Is it worth doing a plastering course first if the plaster is going to come off with the tiles?

Is if worth me doing a tiling course or can I learn enough from DVD’s and books.

I have 3 bathrooms I want to replace and the labour costs are huge so I am going to have a go myself. Nothing fancy just re-tiling and bathroom suite replacement in the same place.

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't bother with the plastering course to be honest.

You should be able to tile on the old surface unless it is really bad, if it is really bad you can have a go at plastering and if it is not so good it does not matter as you are tiling over it anyway
